Selection Round 1 (Part 2) Tests

This information is for Applicants (Year 1 DSA Admission) Applying to the following schools:

1. What is the Selection Round 1 (Part 1) test?
The Selection Round 1 (Part 1) will consist of the General Ability Test (GAT). For more information on the GAT, please click here.

2. What is the Selection Round 1 (Part 2) test(s)?
The Selection Round 1 (Part 2) will consist of the English Test (Free Response Test) AND Math Test. However, All P6 GEP students are exempted from taking GAT and Math Test.

All P6 GEP students only need to take the English Test.

4. What is the duration of GAT?
Including the briefing and instructions, the duration of entire test is1 hour. For more information on the GAT, please click here.

5. What is the duration of the English Language Free Response Test?
Including the briefing and instructions, the entire test session is about 1 hour and 40 minutes.

6. What is the duration of the Math Test?
Including the briefing and instructions, the entire test session is about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

7. What should candidates need to bring along for the Selection tests?
All candidates would need to bring the following stationery for the respective tests:

a. English Test: Stationery for writing

b. Math Test: Stationery for writing and calculator

c. GAT / CRT (if applicable) : 2B Pencil and Eraser 

8. Will the GAT (Selection Round 1 – Part 1) and the English and Math (Selection Round 1 – Part 2) Tests be conducted on the same test date?
No. If applicants select the GAT (Selection Round 1 – Part 1) test date on 27 June 2015, applicants will take the English and Math (Selection Round 1 - Part 2) test on 11 July 2015. This is to minimize possible burnout of having too many tests within a day.

9. What is the test date for the English Language and Math Tests (Selection Round 1 – Part 2) and the closing date for online registration?
The test date for the English Language and Math Tests (Selection Round 1 – Part 2) is on 
27 June 2015 or 11 July 2015. The closing date for registration is dependent on the choice of date for GAT test, please click here for the availablity test dates and respective closing dates for online registration.

10. What are the available time slots for the English and Math Tests?

There will be two sessions i.e. morning and afternoon sessions. Applicants will not be able to choose their preferred sessions, as the system will auto-generate the test timing which will be reflected on the Letter of Confirmation.

Only applicable for applicants that selected both CHIJ-SNGS and SCGSapplicants will have to undergo two separate English Test on the same test day at different sitting, in the morning and afternoon.

11. How much does the English and Maths Tests (Selection Round 1 – Part 2) cost?

For all P6 applicants (Non-GEP students), the fee for both English and Math Test is SGD40.00 (excluding GST) 
For all P6 GEP pupils applying for Joint Integrated Programme by CHIJ SNGS, CHS, SCGS, the English Test fee is SGD20.00 (excluding GST)

The fee is waived for applicants currently under MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) in their primary school. Kindly notify PAI with the relevant supporting document for wavier of fees.

12. Does the applicant need to apply and pay the fee separately for the English and Maths tests?
No. When you select the school(s) i.e. CHIJ SNGS / CHS / SCGS as one of your school of choice on the GAT Online Registration Form, the applicant will be automatically enrolled for the English and Maths Tests and the fee will be included in the GAT Online Registration system.

For all P6 GEP pupils applying for Joint Integrated Programme to CHIJ SNGS, CHS, SCGS, registration for the English Test can be done via GAT Online Registration. Please select ‘All P6 Pupils CURRENTLY on Gifted Education Programme' in the 'Type of Candidate' field.

13. Will the results for the English Language and Math tests (Selection Round 1 – Part 2) be given to applicants?
No. the results will not be made known to the applicants. Only the school will receive a copy of the results.

14. Are applicants allowed to make alteration or to withdraw after registration?
No alteration or withdrawal will be allowed after the submission of registration. As such, applicants are advised to consider carefully and ensure the accuracy of the contents in the application form before submission.

15. Are the Tests fees refundable?
No. Fees are strictly non-refundable.
